Brownys 2024 Season Update

Well I’m not sure about anyone else but I’m really excited and looking forward to the 2024 RFL Footy season kicking o this weekend. All of the pre-season organizing by the Board and training by the playing groups in all grades now gets put into practice. A real sense of purpose is felt after such a massive effort is put pre-season by everyone and then it all pays off and we start playing for points.

First up this Saturday we have a trip away to the Lakeside where we take on the Barmera-Monash Roos on their home turf. We have a few grades that ‘owe them one’ from last year’s Grand Final Day so it would be nice to start the season off with a win.

For 2024 we welcome back to the Kennel some friendly faces in different roles. Troy Britten, a past senior player, is in charge of our U13’s.

Matt Martinson, past Premiership Player and Senior coach, is in charge of our reigning U15 Premiership side.

Continuing their quest for football glory are Paul Hooper (U18’s Coach), Aaron Camplin (B Grade) and 3 time Premiership Coach, Josh Vater, again in charge of the A Grade.

Also on the coaching front we have Sam Sever (U9’s and Auskick) and Luch Albanese (U11’s) who start their seasons in a few weeks time. Our juniors are our future with many of our current A grade players have come through the age groups so lets all get behind the kids.

Women’s footy is also a few weeks away with Coach Brett Blackwell and Assistant Ash James looking after the girls. The women’s footy might look a little different this year with reduced numbers and oval size and some mid week games scheduled but please be sure to support them as well.

Lastly, I would like to make a request to all of our supporters to get to the footy as often as you can this season. The players get a massive lift from your support in all grades so please get behind them and fly the ‘Blue & White’ flag!

When you are at the footy please remember that we at the Rovers have a high expectation of ourselves and our supporters when it comes to behavior. Please keep your barracking positive and be mindful of having respect for our Umpires as well as our opposition.
